The Prince

1h 36m Drama, Indie, LGBTQ+ 2019

1970s Chile. Jamie is sent to prison after a night of heavy drinking results in the stabbing of his best friend ‘The Gypsy’. Young and good looking, he catches the eye of The Stallion, an older, respected man who soon stakes his claim. Under the protection of The Stallion, Jamie is dubbed ‘The Prince’, sparking animosity amongst other inmates. When The Prince finds himself drawn to another prisoner, he learns that his protection comes at a price. Finding himself at the centre of prison politics, caught in a war that threatens to plunge the whole prison into chaos.

Evocative of Jean Genet’s UN CHANT D’AMOUR and Fassbinder’s QUERELLE, THE PRINCE delves into the blurred lines between love, loyalties and pent-up sexual desires.
